Ireland wedding – the pre-shoot! (Cork, Ireland)

I am very excited to start blogging images from my recent trip to Ireland to photograph the wedding of the super cool couple Ciara & Emmet! These set of images was photographed a few days before their big day on the university grounds where both of them graduated. It was a very cold afternoon so we found some shelter in the hall where they did their final exams and got their degrees-I am sure then standing in the window ledge wasn’t allowed! My only problem with shooting overseas is that I cant get enough of it!!! Next time I am taking models with that I can just shoot all the cool locations I see! Any volunteers?

As you can see from their wedding post it was a stormy day, so we decided to do a re-shoot on another day! I think it must be quite fun to at least get to wear your wedding dress twice!

Van Wyk family with new hope!

The Van Wyks are close family friends and to hear that their house burnt down is quite shocking, but there is hope! Nowa is my son Jean-Pierre’s best friend and they always scream and hug when they greet each other. Christelle & Theron commisioned me to do a shoot with them in the house. They wanted to make the best of this situation and turn a negative into a positive situation! We shot this in 30 min before they had to go to work. At first I wasn’t sure how to approach this shoot, but one thing is for certain I love the final result! Thank you Theron, Christelle, Nowa and Christiaan for trusting me to photograph this and may God give you peace and grace in this time while waiting for your house to be restored!

I had a weekend off recently and decided to do some fun shoots in Worcester. I simply love the mountains surrounding Worcester. This lovely couple is engaged, to be wed next year, so we did an engagement shoot with them. They already booked their photographer before I met them and I am sure the photographer will have as much fun shooting their spontaneity as I did!

Before we wrapped up the shoot we had some last minute inspiration and did the shots on the road with the umbrella! Loved those!

On another note, how good has digital photography become? I personally am blown away with the progress and results. You would always think that you have to edit all digital images, although I do, I want to proof that you can shoot it perfectly straight out of camera, so the first 7 photos before the sepia tone image are all unedited straight out of the camera! Why then do we edit the photos, well mostly because you know you can add slight improvements or you have an artistic vision and end result in mind. The photos after the sepia are all edited according to the vision I had in mind.

Part of my Worcester shoot, was to shoot with Tammy & Jean. They are a very creative couple especially when it comes to Tammy’s wardrobe. I asked them to bring clothes and props and when I saw what they brought the fun and creativity started! I wanted to do unconventional photos with them, thats why you wont see the normal happy shots, but rahter arty and moody shots. It reminded me of my days when I started out and did alot of experimental photography with friends. (So anybody interested in photography -try this you will love it!)
