Fathers day!

Happy fathers day to everyone! My thoughts to those who have lost fathers as well! I remember shooting a wedding in 2006 and I am busy getting fun party shots at the reception and I had about another 30 minutes to work and I turn around and I see my wife standing there. (She wasn’t assisting me) I was so happy and surprised and then she said follow me. As I got outside my brother Eric (awesome photographer as well!) was standing there and then I knew. He told me that our father passed away earlier that day. So my thought are with those who lost fathers!

What am I doing on fathers day? Working! Yeah that is right – my wife and two beautiful sons are at the grandparents and this whole weekend I have spent catching up on wedding imaging. Now normally you never see much writing on my blog, but I really wanted to share my thoughts.

I have been so stressed lately because I got behind on my delivery dates of the photos. That is why I have putt in the extra effort to catch up.Now what does stress do? It changes you and robs your peace and joy. I came to a point where I almost wanted to close my business -I had no more desire to take photographs, but sitting here I am filled with joy. I have now gone through many weddings I have shot lately and a peace came over me. Why? Because I have succeeded in my job!

Now I normally don’t write much about the weddings I post, but does that mean I have nothing to say? – not at all – going through the weddings I recall the beautiful light, or the special amazing moments or the little details I captured. And the brides and grooms can tell you how excited I got over the shots while I am shooting!I love shooting weddings.

There are many photographers out there who do amazing work, but I very often see that the people in the shots don’t look great. My subject is people and I make sure the people look great in the shots even if it is a spontaneous moment – you will still look great! One thing I am very proud of in my work is that I have made every bride look amazingly beautiful in their shots. No matter how you are built or look – I will find the light and angle that makes you look like a star! That is my continued commitment to all my clients! Why -because I care about my work and you and will go out of my way to get the shots!

Going through the photographs and looking at the way I captured the weddings I recall the day vividly and I am happy, amazed and surprised at the shots I captured. I prepared a list for myself, going through all these weddings, to make notes of where I must improve my work and the page is still blank… (I can still improve don’t get me wrong, but I have worked incredibly hard the last 5 years on my technique.) Because every wedding is different and my work changes to fit the couples personality. I cant explain it-it just happens.

My conclusion: I am not in the photograph business… I sell memories and emotions and works of art that comes from passion!!!

So I do get behind on my delivery dates, and might sometimes be slow on e-mails, but the thing I always get right is that I am awesome on your wedding day – and I fulfil my creed – making your most memorable day unforgettable! And by Gods grace I will continue to do so – and I know He is with me!

Ana Verissimo - I can vouch for everything you say. You did my first daughter, Kim`s, wedding and they were the most beautiful photos. I am sure Cathleen`s photos will be worth the wait. God Bless you so you can carry on with your talent.

Britta - Its worth the anticipation for fabulously captured memories that will last a lifetime. Dont stress JP.

Mary - Pretty good post. I just found your blog and wanted to say
that I have really liked browsing your blog posts. In any case
I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!

Heidi Louw - God has blessed you with such an awesome talent!!! I am absolutely pleased to read that u have no intention of closing your bussiness – who would us newbie wedding photographers look up to and aspire to be if u weren’t around? lol :) u have a knack of bringing out the best in people and capturing their souls – you are a true inspiration to me!

How I Make $5000 a Month Posting Links on Google - Loved your latest post, by the way.

admin - Thank you so much Heidi – I appreciate your kind words!

Michael Tree - JP, you will never get away from weddings, it’s in your blood, and even if you try too you will soon be an unhappy man! Keep up the great work, just rest more :)

tiger - i’m glad you’re continuing because your gift is never for you alone – take care and may it just get better from here on out :)

Dee - Reading this before work is probably not a good idea. I’ve got tears in my eyes, not only because it made me think of my dad and how i miss him, but also because your realisation that what you do creates lasting pieces of art and passion for couples – which they can always look back on even as years pass!
