Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Please enjoy, be inspired, get some ideas, shed some tears, leave some comments, tell your friends and most important have fun! I have been so blessed in my career and I love to share my experiences and most I love to share my images, my gift...my art!

I am thankful for the following in my career - firstly to my clients that have respected & trusted me so much in capturing over 350 beautiful weddings!!! To my work being published in more than 50 local and international magazines including two hard cover books! Capturing celebrity weddings like Trevor Manuel, Nicole Fox, Kerry McGregor and Neil Mckenzie. Shooting destination weddings like San Francisco, Spain, UK, Ireland & Victoria Falls. Winning awards like Wedding photographer of the year in SA. Being Co-sponsored by Nikon and being featured on Top Billing TV show! Wow how is that all possible? - Proverbs says -"Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men!" Follow your heart and remember where your gift comes from!

Emmet & Ciara (Ireland Wedding, Castlemartyr Resort)

Firstly THANK YOU Emmet & Ciara! What a privilege to be flown all the way to Ireland to photograph this wedding! I photographed her sister Ailbhe & Tomas’ destination wedding in Cape Town, and there I met Ciara & Emmet. Not only was it an amazing experience, but your hospitality was unbelievable – I have never been treated so well!

It was a beautiful day starting with the moon setting on the one side and the sun rising on the other! What made this day even more amazing was the fact that we had sunshine, which created the most beautiful light, but don’t let that fool you, it was still very cold! The bride had to be the hero of the day facing the cold all in the name of beautiful photos! Go Ciara!

The ceremony was held at the Honan Chapel on the grounds of the University College Cork. Both the bride & groom have to be ex-graduates to get married there, due to the popularity of the venue. What makes it more special, is the fact that Ciara’s parents got married there 30 years ago!

The wedding reception was held at Castlematyr Resort in Cork where we took the photos with Castle Wall ruins in the background. I remember stopping at one point and thinking – “I cant believe I am taking photos with a old a castle in the background so far away from home!”

I really enjoyed how relaxed the guests were at the wedding. (Locally, people seem to want to rush through everything for some reason.) They had some great entertainment including “surprise opera singing waiters”, a magician, the Bugle babes and then off course Spring break with their 80’s style outfits! Really great performers!

A fun wedding tip – the couple made round name tags with the names or nicknames of the guests at the reception which they could keep as gifts.

Overall it was an unforgettable experience and once again thank you so much Emmet & Ciara!

Helene-Mari Rossouw - Jean-Pierre!!!! WOW!I had goosebumps for each of these pictures! STUNNING, as always!

Du Wayne Denton - Where do I start? I love: Shot with groom & TV, shoe window shot, shot with couple sitting on the chairs, couple walking with the old ruins in the background, the cab driver, cake with the long drapping and the last shot! But all these shots are awesome! International Standard!

jo-ann stokes - STunning pics! What a major perk of the job when they pay for you to go overseas and take pics! My favourtie one is them in the church sitting on the chairs cos i love the way you have captured the floor detail! I also love the beautiful soft light you have captured when the bride is posing in the window! The winter light is very flattering in these shots!

Sarah Wood - as always BRILLIANT work!!

Lizelle - Hot stuff Jean-pierre!

Bianca Nebel - Your work is always absolutely brilliant!! This wedding looked stunning! I first heard of you on Top Billing some months ago, and since then I regularly check ur site for ur albums & am blown away time & again by ur talent! Besides getting such wonderful wedding ideas for the future, I have decided that when I marry one day, I must have you as a photographer! =) Well done Jean-Pierre, you have really turned ur profession into an art... -congrats Emmet & Ciara on a beautiful wedding =)

admin - Thank you Bianca for your kind words - much appreciated! I am looking forward to your wedding!

Marlene - Jy is voorwaar die wêreld se beste! Joy, love and peace can be seen in all these photos. May God bless you and your work.

Ellena van Tonder - Pragtig Pragtig Pragtig!!!

Emmet Quish - Jean-Pierre, thank you for your kind words. It was our pleasure to welcome you to do your first (of many, I'm sure) wedding shoots in Ireland. Secondly, thank you for your work, which is, as we expected, brilliant. There's a reason why we wanted you to come halfway around the world to shoot our wedding and the reason is on the pages of this blog. It's so impressive to see someone who not only loves what they do but does it with such enthusiasm, creativity and artistry. Although in fairness it's not that hard to make Ciara look stunning (even in sub-zero temperatures)! Go raibh mile maith agat Jean-Pierre, a chara!

Ailbhe Dennehy - Absolutely stunning!

Jilda Gildenhuys - Absolutly gorgeous. I think this is your best work yet.

Girish - Fantastic photographs. Great candid ones. Were the interiors done using extra lights or it's what was there on location. Jean it would be great if you could post a little basic tips or tutorial into wedding photography, lights, before wedding tips etc.

Lee Kelleher - Wow! You've outdone yourself JP! Although after seeing your pics of Ailbhe's wedding I'm not surprised.... You've really captured everything that was special about that day! :)

admin - Thanks Groom!...mmm can you translate the last sentence please...

Emmet Quish - It's Irish for "thank you very much Jean-Pierre, my friend".

Sharon Quansah - Wow!!! Absolutely gorgeous pictures!!!

Ciara Quish - Jean-Pierre your photos have really captured the emotion of our day and it's great for us to remember all the small details. You were really great to work with and managed to get all the right shots despite the freezing cold temperatures! It's hard to choose a favorite just yet but out of the less obvious ones I love the shot of my shoes, the floor detail in the church and the underneath shot of the chandelier. I also love the shot of Emmet and I outside the church as it's reminiscent of a similar shot that my parents have of their wedding 30 years ago. Can't wait to see all the others!!

Francois - Like always all your images are unique. Crazy about the black & white shots. Ireland looks interesting

Will Pateman Photography - Gorgeous shots!..Love those badges great idea

Alex & Niki (The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay)

I had a really great time photographing this wedding! It was fun getting the shots of the groom getting dressed with the help of his best men and we did some really cool mafia style shots with them. I remember the grooms father really enjoying those! It was the first time I shot in this church and interiors of  made me feel like I was shooting a wedding overseas in Greece!  Their wedding reception was held at the Rotunda at the The Bay Hotel.

Ireland wedding – the pre-shoot! (Cork, Ireland)

I am very excited to start blogging images from my recent trip to Ireland to photograph the wedding of the super cool couple Ciara & Emmet! These set of images was photographed a few days before their big day on the university grounds where both of them graduated. It was a very cold afternoon so we found some shelter in the hall where they did their final exams and got their degrees-I am sure then standing in the window ledge wasn’t allowed! My only problem with shooting overseas is that I cant get enough of it!!! Next time I am taking models with that I can just shoot all the cool locations I see! Any volunteers?

Ciara Quish - Love the photos Jean-Pierre - the silhouette ones are amazing - you've got such a great imagination! It was such a cold day!!

helga strydom - These are so cool and makes you want to travel overseas..where is my passport :-) these pics are beautiful and full of a fun element!

Du Wayne Denton - Very beautiful artistic couple shoot. Love all of them, but the first few are my favorite. You should start photographing some models the next time you are overseas.

Ellena van Tonder - Ongelooflik mooi!

Emmet Quish - Brilliant photos Jean-Pierre. The hall with the window, the Aula Maxima, was built in the 1840s and in its 160yr+ history and the thousands of students who have passed through there I'd be pretty confident no-ones ever climbed up on the window ledge for a photoshoot! That's pretty special. Thanks for giving us such a unique memory! (Also well done to my beautiful wife for climbing up there in heels!!)

Tim Hind - Great work Jean-Pierre, love the silhouette/reflection ones

Lindsey Kieser - What an amazing God given talent JP, wow wow wow

Will Pateman Photography - Fantastic as ever..love the walking shots..great emotion

So well done to Izzymag! Now I am happy to say that amongst the mostly US weddings I got a South-African wedding published! (Pg22-26)

The weddings in America are also so awe-inspiring so brides to-be please go have a look and get great ideas for cakes, flowers, fashion and off course wedding photography-me!

I am really happy to be a part of this premier issue and I wish the editor and her team great success with the future!

Girish - Congrats !!

Michael Tree - Congrats, nice work.

Paul & Jenni (Clouds, Stellenbosch)

Their beautiful wedding was held at Clouds Estate in Stellenbosch and it was co-ordinated by Rozanne from Aleit. I really had a good time shooting this wedding. A great idea from this wedding was the sounding of the vuvuzela, done by the guests, right after the minister said, “You may kiss the bride.”

Rozanne - WOW - love the photos!! Such a stunning and beautiful couple!

Charis - Love,love,love chandelier photos!

Will Pateman Photography - Love the light from the chandelier..excellent

Du Wayne Denton - Just Beautiful. I love the images with the shadows against the wall and the last few pictures with the chandelier.

Helen Arnold and Richard Thompson. - Wow, Jen, Paul these are simply amazing. You guys look truly gorgeous. You both look like models, stand aside Posh and Becks! Wish we could have been there. Hxx.

Girish - Amazing photographs once again. Really like the detail shots that you have taken. Are you a single guy to roams around everywhere or there is a team with you. Do you always visit the location before the actual shoot and fix your locations.

admin - Hi Girish, I am the only shooter at the weddings , but I have an assistant that helps me. Many of the venues I know well and those I dont, I would normally got before the wedding, but the final decision is made on the wedding day according to the light conditions. Hope this helps! Thanks for always commenting!

jenni and paul - Wow - these are ACE! Thank you so much for capturing our day JP. These are have blown us away - better than we could ever have imagined. we honestly can't pick a fav photo We had such a great day and we really feel you have captured the vibe of the wedding. It was great to work with you. Paul has a question though...what was the african phrase for "Jenni's trademark pose"? You told him just as you were leaving and he wants to add it to the framed photo.

admin - Hi Guys - enjoy your time in Japan! The phrase is "twee duime bokant!" which means two thumbs up, but is is a bit more cool to use than the english one.

Jenni's Mum - Jean-Pierre these photographs are brilliant and I echo Jenni and Paul's comments. One picture which stikes a cord with me is the 'chandelier' shot where Jenni is looking at the camera and Paul is looking at her - Fab! But in truth I just love them all.:) Baie Dankie

Emmet Quish - Superb photos Jean-Pierre!

Marlene - Wow a 100x it is so brilliant and original. You are truly a remarkable artist. Love your work very much!

Dawn Kinnish - OMG, how stunning are the photies....suppose the subjects werent too bad either. Can just see Bomber doing the mature collection in the Next Directory 2011! Beautiful dress Jen xxx

Girish - Great photos Jean. Amazing place to photograph I must say. Very nice candid + poised photographs. Smart kid by the way ;) Like the 3rd last photograph a lot. It might be the light I think it's looks so warm. Did you use any reflectors or strobes here.

Du Wayne Denton - Another great wedding photographed in your beautiful creative style. Well Done! Highly Recommended Too!

mark engelbrecht - Love the consistently beautiful photographs, Jean-Pierre.

jeanine botha - pragtige fotos wat soveel LIEFDE uitspel! Di fotos vertel als!

Debbie & Des - Hi JP, thank you for the beautiful “taster” of our photographs. Also to say that the boy you mention is actually Desmond’s nephew Chad. He had a tragic accident 11 days so the fact you especially mentioned him makes the caption all that more poignant – thank you! Warmest regards Debs and Des.

alldoneup - Spectacular wedding photos! The one of the little boy holding the camera backwards is cuteness x10! ahah

Munda Willemse - Wow, now that is called quality and professional photography, very well done Jean. I am very impressed with your talent and I can proudly say that there are very talented photographers around. Cheers.
